Review Board

The CoEE Review Board consists of nine appointed members: three appointed by the Governor, three by the President Pro Tempore of the State Senate, and three by the Speaker of the State House of Representatives. Members are appointed to serve three-year terms. The presidents of the state’s three research universities (Clemson University, the Medical University of South Carolina, and the University of South Carolina) also serve as ex-officio (non-voting) members of the Board.

The purpose of the CoEE Review Board is to oversee the operation of the CoEE Endowment. The main responsibilities of board members include determining whether applicants for endowment funds have met all requirements, appointing expert panels to evaluate specific elements of applications for funds, and judging whether or not to award endowment funds to applicants.

"Companies won’t spend money on research unless they can see how it improves their own profitability. For that reason, it is particularly gratifying when companies continue to work with us year after year. It gives us a real sense of the value of what we are doing."
